ABOUT

Dr. Williams identified gaps in the effectiveness of traditional motivational interviewing techniques, especially within marginalized populations facing complex social and emotional challenges. In response, he developed a groundbreaking model known as Role Play to Stage Play – MI (RPSP-MI).This innovative intervention merges the reflective, client-centered techniques of MI with the expressive, immersive power of theatrical role-play. By guiding participants through dramatized scenarios rooted in real-life struggles, RPSP-MI empowers them to explore their behaviors, emotions, and motivations in a safe, creative, and transformative environment. ), Dr. Williams has dedicated over 24 years to serving individuals and families affected by co-occurring disorders—specifically those facing both mental health challenges and substance use issues. Guided by a deep commitment to restorative justice, Dr. Williams founded Stopny1 as a selective intervention and rehabilitative support program. The organization focuses primarily on two underserved populations: at-risk youth who are vulnerable to systemic disadvantages and returning citizens—formerly incarcerated individuals—seeking meaningful reintegration into their communities. Through culturally responsive and spiritually grounded practices, Stopny1 offers structured support, accountability, and pathways toward self-efficacy and community healing.
